This Monday we are looking at eyeshadows that flatters and enhances blue eyes. Usually you will be recommended to use contrasting colours, so for blue eyes that would be any shade that has orange in it (like mustard yellow, terracotta, bronze, copper and warm browns). But this is a fresh new take on it that our Swedish blogging friend Isabelle found in a Glamour magazine from 2006!
If you have blue eyes you can usually find bits of silver, gray and white in them. So to enhance them, try using eyeshadows in those colours!
Here Isabelle used Fog that she blended with a tiny little bit of Black Ice (she recommends blending eyeshadows in the lid, just a little bit so you’re not left with a lot extra). Apply the silvery gray eyeshadow all over the lid and smudge it below the eye. Apply black eyeliner above and below the eye as well, keep close to the lash line. Finish with tons of black mascara. The blacker your lashes, the bluer your eyes will look!

Gorgeous Isabelle! Be sure to visit her blog for more tips and tricks! My favorite is her “Makeup of the day” posts, it gives me tons of ideas!
After years of searching for the perfect foundation or base and many dollars spent with major brands, to no avail, I stopped at TVAL in downtown St. John’s to purchase some gifts for a few young nieces and graduating cousins. (TVAL cupcakes are the perfect addition to any gift basket or gift bag of goodies for the graduating teen.)
One of the exceptionally capable sales staff asked if I’d be interested in testing the mineral make-up. I’d heard of mineral make-up and new folks with clear, clear skin who just loved the concept. With less than an Ivory girl complexion and a professional need for ‘a full face’ I was hesitant. I even made the sales girl commit to selling me the smallest units of everything!
After three months of nothing but TVAL mineral foundation I am sold! I’m acne free after 10 years of adult acne and loving my fresh, clean face feeling. I’ve also begun to enjoy the great selection of glosses and eye shadows.
Thanks to Anna and her talented team for continually innovating in the make-up arena.
And now on to the Review winner this week! When you post a review online you are automatically entered in this contest. Every review gives you one entry, and we draw a winner every Friday morning. This week it was Letitia, she wrote a review on the Colourful Lip Balms:
I’m almost done and I haven’t had it very long. Delicious smell. I got Cougrr and it is a nice sheer colour, just enough to add some natural colour when my lips are having an especially pale day. Plus it’s a great moisturizer without being thick or heavy at all
Have a fantastic weekend!!
I wanted to tell you and the whole world (because, why not?) about my favorite product. I love, love, love the Deep Cleansing Oil with Mandarin and Cedar. I use it every night and either just rinse it with water or wipe it with a wet wash cloth, or use it as a hot oil deep cleaning treatment with a hot towel, which is very relaxing. My skin feels so soft afterwards! I was skeptical at first, since I was thinking that my skin would feel oily after but my skin was great even during my pregnancy! I always finish washing with one of the fabulous toners from Tval but that’s a whole new entry…

This moisturizer is a great for spring/summer. I use Rich & Dreamy in the winter but Light & Airy is perfect for right now. As usual, I add the Vitamin C powder and this moisturizer packs a punch. Ever since I switched to TVAL – people have commented on my “perfect skin” – it’s surely because of my perfect skin care routine. Thanks TVAL!
Have a fantastic weekend!!
This look is from our Swedish blogger friend, Isabelle. She used Fog, Granite and Puffin’. Let’s take a closer look at the colours:
Fog is a pale gray with pink and golden highlights. Granite is a matte mauve, an almost grayish pinky purple. And Puffin’ is a smokey aubergine, also a matte eyeshadow.
Here is what the colours look like applied on the skin.
Isabelle applied Fog on the inner corner of her eye, both above and slightly below the eye. Then she followed with Granite on the middle of the eye and finally used Puffin’ on the outer corner to shape the eye and give depth. She also used it as an eyeliner with a wet brush. Like so:
This week we have applied the matte brown Blow Me Down all over the eye lid and in a wing shape up and out towards the eye brow. We also smudged some below the eye and out to meet the shade over the eye. Finally we applied shimmery white Winterton over the eye lid, and blended it into the crease so it would fade into Blow Me Down. Easy but quite striking 🙂
